Above - Australian Top Priced Poll Dorset Ewe
During more than six hours of constant bidding under the guidance of four auctioneers, they off-loaded 520 stud ewes and broke Australia's previous record ewe price of $2700.
The ewe, secured by Chris Marr of Gererdan Poll Dorsets, Marrar, near Wagga Wagga, N.S.W. was a well-acclaimed maiden, placing reserve champion ewe at Bendigo Sheep & Wool Show and Interbreed Champion Ewe at Hamilton Sheepvention. She was also a daughter of the Champion Ewe at Adelaide Royal in 2008.
The second top priced ewe was secured by Andrew Scott, Valley Vista Poll Dorsets, Coolac N.S.W. for $3750. This ewe's four-month-old lamb was also offered and sold for $1500 to the Kentish Downs stud from Holbrook, N.S.W.
Ewes were sold to four states, volume buyers included the Gloroy Stud from Newbridge Vic., Noel Mawbey, Dubbo N.S.W., and the Studs - Ashley Park, Bairnsdale, Claronden Stud at Caramut and Yentrac at Tatura.
Banyenong West also sold 16 rams to fierce competition and a top price of $10,000.

Banyenong West has been very active and achieved many milestones in the Show ring, most recently gaining such coveted awards as Supreme Interbreed Ewe at the Melbourne Royal in 2007 & 2008, Champion Ewe at Hamilton Sheepvention 2006 & 2009, Champion and Reserve Ewes at Adelaide Royal 2007, and Champion Ram at Sheepvention 2007 & 2009, and the Interbreed Group at Hamilton Sheepvention in 2009 also.
In 2010 the Stud again gained Champion Ram & Champion Ewe, Interbreed Ewe and Interbreed Group at Hamilton Sheepvention to cap off yet another successful show season. The Stud has topped the Melbourne Royal Ram Sale for 2 of the last 3 years, and in 2009 purchased the top priced ram for $18000 in a partnership.

The performance of the Stud through Lambplan has been exceptional
with Stud ram and semen sales playing a major part in the genetic development of the industry across Australia. Banyenong West have gone on to win such prestigious awards as the Tatiara Meats Interbreed Pair of Rams at Adelaide Royal 2008 and the Interbreed Lambplan Pair at Hamilton 2008, and the Poll Dorset Lambplan Performance Ewe Class at Hamilton in 2009.
